Objectives
- Strengthen the chemical, biological, and radiological safety and security system in accordance with relevant national and international legislation and standards.
- Manage risks and mitigate accidents and emergencies in laboratories and university facilities.
- Increase safety awareness and training among students, researchers, staff, and laboratory users.
- Ensure the safe handling of chemical and biological materials and radiological sources, from receipt, storage, and use through to disposal.
- Enhance continuous monitoring and assessment of safety levels, and ensure effective preparedness and response to emergencies.
Key Tasks
- Develop and monitor the implementation of chemical, biological, and radiological safety and security policies and procedures at the university.
- Assess risks and monitor safety requirements in laboratories, facilities, and related premises.
- Oversee the safe handling, storage, use, transport, and disposal of chemical and biological materials and radiological sources.
- Implement training, awareness, and guidance programs in the field of safety and emergency response.
- Prepare and update emergency, evacuation, and incident response plans, and conduct necessary drills.
- Follow up on accidents and violations, conduct investigations and assessments, and establish corrective and preventive measures.
- Prepare safety records and reports, monitor performance indicators, and coordinate with the relevant authorities.
